What do you get when you cross a garden gnome and one of Santa’s elves? A POOKA! For you scholars of Irish folklore, a Pooka is a shape-shifting creature who can turn into animals at will. If you are from Bedford however, Pooka’s are colorful little characters who appeared in many of Bedford artist, Richard Sedlon’s paintings. At the Weekend of the Pooka’s, adults and children can participate in artistic activities like origami to hat making, pottery to drum playing.
